Cristiano Ronaldo Breaks YouTube Subscriber Record with Channel Debut
“Siuuubscribe.” The football star reaches 30 million subscribers just two days after uploading his first video to the platform.
Another Record for the World’s Most Popular Athlete
Cristiano Ronaldo, the world’s most followed person on social media with approximately 917 million followers, has set a new milestone. The Portuguese footballer, known for breaking records throughout his two-decade career, has now achieved another feat on YouTube with the launch of his channel, UR.
On 21 August 2024, Ronaldo uploaded his first video, and within just an hour and a half, his channel reached one million subscribers, making it the fastest to do so on the platform.
A Spectacular Start
The debut video, which is just over a minute long, captures the event at Times Square unveiling his wax figure for Madame Tussauds in 2022.
YouTube quickly recognized Ronaldo’s success. On the same day he uploaded his first video, he shared another one showing his children the Gold Creator Award, a plaque given to creators who reach one million subscribers.
This extraordinary speed has led social media users to speculate whether Ronaldo received the award even before launching the channel.
Breaking More Records
Two days after its premiere, UR surpassed 30 million subscribers, setting another YouTube record. As of this writing, the channel has 46 million followers and 20 videos.

“It’s a way for me to be closer to my fans, to my people. I think it’s an ideal platform to be able to share a bit of my life, my things; very organic, original content,” Ronaldo says in one of his videos with his partner, Spanish supermodel and social media influencer Georgina Rodríguez.

While some may expect to see the football star in more intimate settings around Riyadh, the content so far leans more towards professionally produced promotional spots rather than personal stories.
The videos are short, many under a minute, and almost all are professionally edited.
