Queens of the Stone Age Cancels Remaining 2024 Tour Dates as Frontman Recovers from Emergency Surgery

In a surprising turn of events, rock legends Queens of the Stone Age have announced the cancellation of all their remaining tour dates for 2024. The band is taking this step as lead singer Josh Homme focuses on recovery following emergency surgery.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Instagram, the band expressed their regret and explained the situation:

“QOTSA regret to announce the cancellation and/or postponement of all remaining 2024 shows. Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and to receive essential medical care through the remainder of the year,” the post read.

The band extended their gratitude to fans, saying, “Josh and the QOTSA family are so thankful for your support and the time we were able to spend together over the last year. Hope to see you all again in 2025.”

For festival-goers, the band advises visiting the specific event sites for updated information. Ticket holders for individual Queens of the Stone Age shows will be contacted by the point of purchase with details about rescheduled dates.

Earlier in July, the band had already canceled their European tour leg after Homme had to return to the U.S. for emergency surgery. While the specifics of the surgery have not been disclosed, it’s worth noting that Homme underwent surgery in 2022 to address an unspecified form of cancer.

Josh Homme, 51, is the founding member of Queens of the Stone Age, established in 1996 after his time with the influential heavy metal band Kyuss. The band has received nine Grammy nominations and achieved significant success, including their 2013 album “…Like Clockwork,” which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200.

The group was on the road in support of their latest album, “In Times New Roman.”

Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates and look out for information regarding new tour dates in 2025.
